About Me.

Blair Dellemijn (Della-mine….you can blame the Dutch for that)

194cm.

Balding.

40’ish.

Likes Lego.

Hmmm…what else can I say?

I’ve been a volunteer firey for 25 years.

Mum put the first camera in my hands at 2 (so blame her), and I haven’t really put it down since.

Oh, and I take the occasional photo or two of our emergency services.

So I started Uniform Photography about 9 years ago.

Why the name? Let’s be honest….a majority of people I photograph wear a uniform of one sort or another. Name stuck, so here we are.

All the gear and no idea. OK, a bit of an idea.

Camera.

I’m pretty basic. I carry a couple of Canon 5D3’s around. I love ‘em. Certainly does the job. Been through a lot too. Absolute workhorses. Dropped countless times (when I don’t have a ball, I throw these around instead lol). I carry them around on a twin Blackrapid strap. They are grouse!

Glass.

I have a bit of this and a bit of that. Main workhorses are:

Canon 24-70 2.8L
Canon 70-200 2.8iiL
Canon 24-105 4L
Canon 100 2.8L Macro
Canon 16-35 4L
Canon 400 2.8L

Light makers and shapers.

Godox V860ii flashes (six of them)
Jinbei 600w flashes (got two of those)
Jinbei 1200w monolight
Various light stands and modifiers to ‘work my magic’.

I tend to try and travel light, but it all depends on the job. Some jobs call for small lights dotted around. Some call for monsters that blow your pupils to another galaxy.

Bag.

I have used soooo many bags over the years. Shoulder bag, backpacks, ‘bum-bags’

My weapon of choice these days is a Think Tank Airport Security V2. Packs all my cameras, glass, and small flashes in there, and you can even strap a couple of lightstands to the side of it with some brolleys, plus the multitude of other stuff I lug around, just in case. It’s just a mongrel to lift in and out of the car. The wheels are great though. The bigger stuff, like bigger lightstands, C-stands and sandbags get lugged around by hand. The bigger lights also have their own bags. Lowepro I think. They’re black anyway…I dunno.

But do you know how to use it all?

Geez….I hope so.
I also have some other gadgets I use every now and again, from the trusty monopod and tripod, intervalometer (you know, the remote thingy), to pads and pens and gaffer tape.
